Allianz Life faces a massive data breach affecting over 1.4 million U.S. customers, with the FBI and authorities investigating the cyberattack.

The Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America has confirmed a massive data breach affecting over 1.4 million customers, financial professionals, and some employees. The breach involved a third-party cloud-based system, not Allianz’s internal servers, the company clarified.
Personal Data of Majority of Customers Stolen
According to a statement shared with Bloomberg, a “malicious threat actor” exploited a social engineering technique to access sensitive customer information. Allianz Life stated that personally identifiable data for the majority of its U.S. customers had been compromised.
The insurer has begun notifying impacted individuals and has filed details of the breach with the Maine Attorney General’s Office.
FBI and Authorities Notified
Allianz Life confirmed it has reported the cyberattack to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and other relevant authorities. The company stated, “We took immediate action to contain and mitigate the issue and notified the FBI.”
Affected customers will receive 24 months of identity theft protection and credit monitoring services to safeguard their financial data.
Breach Limited to U.S. Operations
The incident is limited to Allianz Life’s U.S. operations and does not impact other global entities of Allianz SE, the Munich-based parent company serving over 125 million customers worldwide.
